Curator Talk: Jane Morris, Pre-Raphaelite Muse

July 6 @ 5:00 pm 6:00 pm

Join Sophie Lynford, Annette Woolard-Provine Curator of the Bancroft Collection, for a gallery talk on Jane Morris’s relationship with the Pre-Raphaelites. Jane was the wife of Arts & Crafts pioneer, William Morris, and a frequent model to Dante Gabriel Rossetti, who memorialized her face in countless artworks. But Jane was much more than a muse; she was also an artist in her own right and a skilled embroiderer. This talk will pay particularly close attention to Rossetti’s painting, Water Willow, in DelArt’s collection, and Evelyn De Morgan’s The Hourglass, on loan from the De Morgan Foundation.  *Please note: this gallery talk has been rescheduled from June 22 to July 6*
